Sangria History
From Sangria Recipe
Sangria is a fruity red wine punch served in Spain, Portugal, and Mexico. It makes a great summer time drink and is served frequently in the South of Spain.
Often served in a punch bowl at parties, a wooden spoon is used to server or separate the fruit. In bars or restaurants, Sangria is served from a pitcher large enough to hold one bottle of wine, with a strainer or lid to retain the fruit.
The word "sangria" is translated as "bleeding" in Portuguese and Spanish.
